SRH vs PBKS: Cummins Explains the Trick That Dismissed Priyansh Arya

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins revealed how he used a double bluff to dismiss Priyansh Arya in the opening over of the match against Punjab Kings, which SRH went on to win by 33 runs.

Cummins set Arya up brilliantly in the first over. After bowling a couple of dot balls, he delivered a well-directed bouncer. The PBKS opener found himself in an awkward position and lost his wicket. Before bowling that delivery, Cummins altered the field by pushing mid-on back, before catching Arya off guard with the short ball.

Given Arya’s recent form, it was a crucial breakthrough. SRH made the ideal start while defending their total and eventually secured victory.

Speaking about the plan against Arya, Cummins said: “You know, we had our plans, but didn’t have many other options, so I thought we’d try a bouncer and fortunately it came off tonight. Yeah, try and move the field, pretend a bit more is happening than actually is.”

Cummins also spoke about the luxury of having multiple bowling options at his disposal.

“Oh, you know, we’ve got lots of options, particularly with Nitish as another all-rounder,” said Cummins. “It feels like we’ve always got six or seven options. I always like having a bit of a clear mind for how the powerplay can look. And then after that, I stay fairly open-minded about where the game can take me.”

With the win over PBKS, Sunrisers Hyderabad moved to the top of the points table.
