Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the National Sports Federation Conclave 2026 marks a major step in strengthening India’s preparations for upcoming international sporting events, including the 2026 Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games, and the 2028 Olympics.
The conclave brought together representatives from 37 National Sports Federations (NSFs), including the Indian Olympic Association, to discuss India’s sporting roadmap and long-term strategy for elite competition.
Addressing the gathering in New Delhi, Mandaviya stressed the importance of coordination between athletes, federations, and government agencies in building India into a global sporting powerhouse. He said the conclave reflects a “coordinated step” toward India’s preparation for future international events.
The minister highlighted the government’s broader vision of transforming India’s sporting ecosystem through scientific training methods, modern infrastructure, athlete-centric governance, and sustained institutional support.
A major focus of the discussions was improving transparency and accountability within sports federations. Mandaviya emphasised that athlete welfare should remain central to federation governance and called for timely elections, transparent selection procedures, and stronger administrative systems.
The conclave also featured sessions on anti-doping awareness, sports science, fitness protocols, and technical reforms under the National Sports Governance Act 2025. Officials discussed strategies to ensure India’s athletes remain competitive at global events while maintaining clean sporting standards.
Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse said India’s future sporting success would be driven by “performance, powered by science and anchored in stronger federations.”
The discussions come at a crucial time for Indian sport, with preparations intensifying for the Commonwealth Games 2026, the Asian Games in Japan, and the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. India is also continuing its push to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
Mandaviya also reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating doping from Indian sports, calling for collective responsibility from federations, coaches, and support staff to create a transparent and clean sporting culture.
Sports administrators and federation officials actively participated in the conclave discussions, which are expected to influence India’s planning and athlete development strategies over the coming Olympic cycle.
