Chelsea’s midfield a headache for Alonso after Arsenal press advantage | Jacob Steinberg
There was a gulf between the teams in the middle of the park, with Moisés Caicedo’s absence hurting the visitors livefromquarantine.club
There have been seasons when Chelsea have turned up at the Emirates Stadium and parked the bus. “You know, I think 10 years without a title is boring,” José Mourinho said in response to criticism from Arsenal fans after a stultifying 0-0 draw in April 2015. On Sunday, though, there was no holding back from Chelsea. “I want to compete in the best possible way to win,” Xabi Alonso said after seeing his new side edged out by Arsenal in a breathless encounter. “Today we didn’t want to sit deep from the first minute. We wanted to be active.”
The plan worked at times. Chelsea maintained their habit of scoring early goals, going ahead through Morgan Rogers, and created further openings. But they were facing the champions and do not have Arsenal’s completeness. Shortcomings were exploited, particularly in midfield. Declan Rice romped through the middle at one point and the winning goal owed much to Reece James losing track of Martin Ødegaard as Arsenal’s captain strode through to fire past Emiliano Martínez.

Sudden wave of Switch 2 online bans reportedly caused by a Nintendo server issue, and are now being fixed
A number of Nintendo Switch 2 owners apparently got a rude surprise this weekend when they discovered their consoles were restricted from using online services by Nintendo for no discernible reason. The home of Mario and Zelda has now reportedly responded, fixing the issue and saying it was a due to an internal server problem.
Upon boot-up, the impacted owners would get an error code which "indicates that the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console you are using has been permanently banned from connecting to the internet due to a breach of user agreements." Included in the possible reasons is "fraudulent or unauthorised transactions."
As spotted by PC Guide, over on Reddit, players have been posting about being hit with this despite download and transaction histories that are extremely clean. Sadly, the ban hammer is hard to argue with, and there are limited channels for communicating that you've been wrongly restricted.
Nonetheless, the community managed to make enough noise – likely because there are plenty more affected than we know about – that Nintendo apparently looked into it and is now purportedly remedying the problem. In another post on Reddit, a player mentions calling up customer service twice, and the second time, the rep acknowledging there'd been a server-side problem, and that changes were being rolled out.
They then found the ban lifted upon restarting the console, and a number of other Switch 2 users are saying the same. Nintendo itself hasn't commented publicly as of yet, making this more anecdotal than official at present, but it's worth a try all the same.
At least we know the corporation's defences are up if you start using illegitimate software. I've seen more graceful warnings, mind.
Bernie Ecclestone questioned after shotgun found on his private jet in Portugal
Former F1 chief says firearm was for clay-pigeon shooting
Police quiz 95-year-old over lack of documents for gun
Bernie Ecclestone was detained in Portugal on Monday after customs authorities found him in possession of an undocumented shotgun. The Guardian has independently confirmed the incident with multiple authorities involved in the matter.
The detention of the 95-year-old took place at Tires Aerodrome in Cascais, shortly after the former Formula One chief’s private jet landed. After a routine inspection of the aircraft and its passengers, authorities reportedly discovered a shotgun in Ecclestone’s possession. He was stopped for questioning by Portuguese officials.
