Glasgow [Scotland], July 29 (ANI): India’s athletics stars Parul Chaudhary and Murali Sreeshankar will headline the country’s campaign on Day 7 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, with both aiming to add to India’s medal tally in their respective finals.

National record holder Parul Chaudhary will compete in the women’s 3000m steeplechase final in pursuit of her maiden Commonwealth Games medal. The Asian Games and Asian Championships medallist will also feature in the women’s 5000m later in the competition, according to ESPN.

Meanwhile, Birmingham 2022 silver medallist Murali Sreeshankar will look to return to the Commonwealth Games podium in the men’s long jump final. India’s boxing contingent will have another busy day with six pugilists one victory away from guaranteeing themselves a medal by reaching the semifinals. Sakshi Choudhary (women’s 51kg), Arundhati Choudhary (women’s 70kg), Sachin Siwach (men’s 60kg), Ankush Yadav (men’s 80kg), Narender Berwal (men’s 90+kg) and Jaismine Lamboria (women’s 57kg) will all be in quarterfinal action.

India have already assured themselves of four boxing medals through Lovlina Borgohain, Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghanghas and Jadumani Singh, who progressed to the semifinals in their respective categories.

Weightlifter Sanjana will compete in the women’s 77kg final, while Manpreet Kaur will be India’s medal hope in the women’s shot put final later in the evening.

The swimming programme enters its final day with Sajan Prakash and Aneesh S. Gowda competing in the men’s 200m freestyle heats, while Srihari Nataraj, Aryan Nehra and India’s para swimmers will also be in action.

Three-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) endured a difficult season in IPL 2026, finishing in 7th place on the Points Table and failed to progress to the Playoffs stage. Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan-owned KKR had the biggest budget heading into the IPL 2026 Player Auction last year but for the second year in the succession failed to reach the Playoffs.

Now ahead of the IPL 2027 Player Auction later this year, KKR have made a big move by bringing back former Team India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate into their support staff. Knight Riders Sports, announced the appointment of Ryan ten Doeschate as their Head of Cricket Strategy. He will return to the Knight Riders family in a role that will oversee cricket strategy, talent acquisition and development across their global franchises.

In his new role, Ten Doeschate will lead the strategic direction for scouting, player recruitment, squad planning and performance evaluation across the Knight Riders network. He will work closely with the coaching teams to help build a consistent cricketing philosophy and approach across all Knight Riders franchises. As part of his role, he will also serve as Assistant Coach for Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 and Los Angeles Knight Riders in the MLC.

“We are delighted to welcome Tendo back to the Knight Riders family. His deep understanding of our philosophy, combined with his experience across franchise and international cricket, makes him ideally suited for this role. He will help shape the next phase of growth across the Knight Riders ecosystem,” Knight Riders Sports CEO Venky Mysore said in a statement.

Commenting on his appointment, Ryan ten Doeschate said: “I’m excited to be back with the Knight Riders in this role. This is a unique opportunity to work with the coaching & analytics teams across our global franchises to strengthen our scouting/player development systems, and to build a long-term cricket strategy.”

Former Netherland all-rounder’s journey with the Knight Riders family, started first as a player for KKR in 2011 and he was a key member of the title-winning squads in IPL 2012 and 2014. He later became an important part of the coaching group in 2022 and during their third IPL championship title in 2024.

BCCI decided not to renew Ryan ten Doeschate and T. Dilip contracts

Earlier on Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the contracts of Ten Doeschate as Team India assistant coach and fielding coach T. Dilip will not be renewed. “The BCCI continued with the duo till the end of India’s tour of United Kingdom. However, the BCCI is not giving them any extension. There is no question of accepting resignation as the contract has ended,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia was quoted as saying by PTI news agency.

“We are currently in talks with two to three names (for fielding coach role) and expect to finalise the details within a day or two. India will have a new fielding coach for tour of Sri Lanka (in August),” Saikia added.

Ten Doeschate was part of the Team India support staff since head coach Gautam Gambhir replaced Rahul Dravid following the team’s 2024 T20 World Cup title win.

The 21-year-old clocked 47.13 seconds to secure the gold medal, finishing ahead of Wales’ Matt Richards, who claimed silver in 47.64, while Olympic champion Chalmers settled for bronze in 47.74 despite entering the final as the fastest qualifier.

Hangzhou [China], July 29 (ANI): Indian ace shooter Manu Bhaker expressed mixed feelings after securing another bronze medal at the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun in Hangzhou, China, saying she was happy to see her hard work reflected in her performance but believed there was still room for improvement.

“Another bronze. I have mixed feelings about this one. I’m happy that I was able to improve my performance, but at the same time, I know I could have done better," Bhaker wrote in a post on X.

The Olympic medallist said the improvement in her performance was encouraging and credited her team and family for their support.

“What makes me happy is seeing that the hard work is showing. There’s still plenty of room for improvement, and that’s what keeps me motivated. One step at a time," she said.

Bhaker also thanked her team, family and fans for their continued support.

“Major thanks to my team, my family, and each one of you for the unwavering love and support, it means the world to me," she added.

Indian pistol aces Esha Singh and Bhaker delivered a sensational double-podium finish in the Women’s 25m Pistol event at the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun evnt, clinching the gold and bronze medals, respectively, to extend India’s stellar run at the competition.

Esha produced a commanding display in the final, registering 40 hits to seal the gold medal, while Paris 2024 double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker fought through a tense, highly competitive field, winning a crucial shoot-off before finishing with 28 hits to secure bronze, as per a press release from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).

The Indian squad set the benchmark early in the qualification round. Manu Bhaker topped the qualifying standings with an outstanding score of 586-20x, closely followed by Esha Singh in second place with 585-18x to comfortably advance to the eight-shooter final.
