Earlier, Pakistan's skipper Sana won the toss and elected to bat first against the "Women in Blue".

After winning the toss, she said, "We're gonna bat first because we want to put a maximum total here. [Did the last game influence this decision?] Yeah, because we know we have a good bowling side, so we will try to restrict them. [How have you addressed the batting wobble?] We had a good chat with the team and we just want to play according to the pitch. [Any changes?] No, we have the same team".

In the ongoing Women's T20 Asia Cup, Team India is in the top position in the points table of Group A. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side has a net run rate (NRR) of +5.775 and four points. On the other hand, Pakistan is placed in the second position with a net run rate (NRR) of +1.750 and two points.

'We are always one step ahead of them...': Deepti ahead of clash against PAK

The stage is set for the much-awaited clash of the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026. Team India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.

Ahead of the match, Team India's star all-rounder Deepti Sharma has expressed confidence and said that the "Women in Blue" are always one step ahead of Pakistan.

"Look, there is no advantage as such. The only thing is that whatever we have won against them (Pakistan), whether it is the Asia Cup or any other matches, we are always one step ahead of them. And that's it," she said in the pre-match press conference.

She then said that both the batting and bowling departments of Team India are balanced.

"The whole team is performing well. If you look at the bowling unit or the batting unit, I think both things are balanced. The one who has a good day, she tries to do better and take the game further. And those around her, they try to stay positive things so that they step in more in their game," said Sharma.

Premier League: Haaland nets 300th club career goal as Man City get 1-0 win over Coventry FC

Yorkshire [UK], September 5 (ANI): Star striker Erling Haaland completed the 300th goal of his club career as Manchester City climbed to the top of the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Coventry FC in away fixture on Saturday.

The Norway superstar has dominated the Premier League promoted teams, having found the net 20 times against them, only failing against Sunderland last term. His header in the 26th minute was enough to seal City’s third win in three matches and a top-of-the-table position.

This marks Haaland’s 165th goal for City, having hit 86 goals previously for Borussia Dortmund, 29 for Red Bull Salzburg and 20 for Molde FK.

The 125 million pound signee from Argentina and former Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez made his debut in Man City colours and was involved in Haaland’s goal. Playing as a stand-in for an injured Nico O’Reilly, his pass to Antoine Semenyo was the precursor to Haaland’s header in the 26th minute.

Coventry were not easy opponents to play against, with summer addition Taiwo Awoniyi fluffing his one-on-one chance with Gianluigi Donnarumma, while the goalie also made saves against Jack Rudoni and Ellis Simms.

Frank Lampard’s side are yet to score a goal since their return to the top flight of English football.

After the win, manager Enzo Maresca said, as quoted by the club’s official website, “It is an important win, different from the first two. They have all been different."

“Today, 9/10 times you finish conceding because we kept them alive by missing chances. In the end, we finished by suffering together, and it is an important win."

“I am very happy. I know the players day-by-day, we know each other. It means we will get better and better," he signed off.

Coventry boss Lampard said, as quoted by Sky Sports, “Good performance from us. Felt like we deserved something from the game. Our defensive organisation was great. We created moments of pressure, three big chances. The players took on the challenge really well; they are disappointed and so am I."

“I never criticise players, because I understand pressure. This is the level. It’s the brutal reality of it. But we do not play Manchester City every week. The Premier League is a high level, but on reflection there is a lot of good to use in our mentality."

“Against Arsenal it felt like a first Premier League game in 25 years. Today felt like a competitive Premier League team coming with a clear idea and threat. The fixture list has been tough on us. We cannot lose belief off the back of three games, and so we must look forward," he signed off. (ANI)

World Nomad Games: 16 stone sculptures installed at Centre for Nomadic Civilisation

Ysyk-Kol [Kyrgyzstan], September 6 (ANI): As part of the cultural program of the 6th World Nomad Games, a collection of 16 monumental stone sculptures has been created at the Centre for Nomadic Civilisation in the village of Ornok, Issyk-Kul region, as per the Kabar News Agency.

The sculptures celebrate the history, culture, and philosophy of nomadic civilisation.

The sculptures were created especially for the Games and will remain at the Centre as part of its permanent open-air art collection, according to the World Nomad Games 2026 Media Headquarters, as quoted by the Kabar News Agency.

The project followed a competitive selection process organised as part of the Games’ cultural program. More than 75 proposals were received, from which a special commission selected 16 projects to be brought to life in stone.

Following the selection process, the participating sculptors travelled to Ornok, where they spent a month creating their works in the run-up to the Games. Uzgen travertine was chosen as the primary material, enabling the artists to create large-scale monumental compositions.

All 16 sculptures have now been installed on the grounds of the Centre. Their themes reflect the history, traditions, spiritual values, and worldview of nomadic peoples.

Among the works are “Ozök" (“Basis"), “Return of the Nomads," “Tradition," “Nomadic Spirit," “Zhargylchak," “Music," “Freedom," “Sayapker," “Shaman," “Toguz Kyrgool," and “Meikindik," among others, as per the Kabar News Agency.

Sculptor Bakyt Imanbaev presented “Zhargylchak," a decorative composition inspired by a traditional household tool once used by Kyrgyz women. The zhargylchak played an important role in nomadic daily life, serving to process grain and prepare flour and talkan.

Imanbaev said he first sketched the concept while studying at the Kyrgyz State Art Academy. The original work was later purchased by a foreign tourist. Given the opportunity to take part in the sculpture symposium, he revisited the idea, noting that its concept closely aligned with the theme of nomadic civilisation, as per the Kabar News Agency.

One of the project’s key works, “Ozök," explores the roots and foundations of nomadic culture. The composition blends traditional ornamental elements with contemporary artistic forms, highlighting the ongoing evolution of nomadic cultural heritage.

Organisers and participating artists stressed that the sculptures were created as permanent works rather than for a temporary exhibition and will remain at the Centre for visitors to experience.

“Today, when we look at balbals, we can determine the period and era to which they belong. In the same way, our compositions will tell future generations that the 6th World Nomad Games were held here in 2026 and convey the ideas we sought to express," Imanbaev said.

The collection is expected to support the development of the Centre for Nomadic Civilisation as an open-air museum, combining contemporary sculpture with the historical and cultural heritage of nomadic civilisation.

The 16 stone sculptures will remain on the Center’s grounds as a lasting cultural legacy of the 6th World Nomad Games and a reflection of how contemporary artists interpret and preserve the heritage of the nomadic world.

The 6th World Nomad Games are taking place in Kyrgyzstan from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6, 2026. The Games officially opened at Bishkek Arena in the capital on Aug. 31, while the main competitions are being held in the Issyk-Kul region from Sept. 1 to 6. More than 3,000 athletes representing 109 countries are taking part in the Games. (ANI)
