ميسي غير متأكد من مواصلة اللعب “لفترة طويلة” بعد وفاة والده
قال النجم الأرجنتيني ليونيل ميسي، الأربعاء، إنه ليس متأكدا من مواصلة لعب كرة القدم “لفترة طويلة” بعد الآن، وذلك في رسالة مؤثرة وجّهها إلى والده ووكيل أعماله خورخي ميسي الذي توفي السبت الماضي.
وكتب ميسي، البالغ 39 عاما، في الرسالة التي نشرها عبر حسابه على “إنستغرام”: “لا أعرف ماذا سأفعل من دونك، ولا أعرف كيف سأواصل. لم أكن أفعل سوى لعب كرة القدم، والآن لدي الكثير من الشكوك حول ما إذا كنت سأواصل اللعب لفترة طويلة بعد الآن”. afsport.lat
وفي رسالته، استعاد ميسي الأشهر الأخيرة من حياة والده والتي تزامنت مع كأس العالم 2026.
وقال لاعب إنتر ميامي الأميركي الذي عاد إلى الولايات المتحدة مساء الثلاثاء بعد مشاركته في جنازة والده الأحد: “كنت أواصل القول لك إننا سنبلغ النهائي حتى تتمكن من السفر والحضور”.
وأضاف: “بلغنا النهائي، لكنك لم تتمكن من أن تكون هناك. كنت أريد الفوز به (اللقب) لأهديه لك وأريك لقبا جديدا. لم أتمكن من ذلك، فقد خذلتني ساقاي. هذه المرة حاولت تجاوز حدودي البدنية، لكنني لم أستطع. لم أشعر بأنني على ما يرام قط”، وذلك في أول تصريحات له بعد الخسارة أمام إسبانيا 0-1 في النهائي الذي أقيم في نيوجيرزي.
وأبرز ميسي الدور المحوري الذي لعبه والده في حياته ومسيرته، قائلا “كنت أبا وصديقا ووكيل أعمال. كنت دائما الشخص الذي أحتاج إليه في كل لحظة، ولم تخطئ في أي شيء قط”.
وكان غياب خورخي ميسي غير المعتاد عن كأس العالم في حزيران/يونيو قد لفت الانتباه بالفعل.
وطلبت عائلة ميسي من وسائل الإعلام التحلي بـ”الإنسانية” خلال البطولة، في ظل الشائعات المتواصلة حول الحالة الصحية لخورخي.
وبعد أن بكى عقب تسجيله هدفا أمام الجزائر، كان ميسي قد أقر بأنه يتعامل مع “وضع خارج إطار الرياضة”.
ويوم الأحد، ودّع الفائز بالكرة الذهبية ثماني مرات والده خلال مراسم خاصة حضرها أفراد مقربون من العائلة وعدد قليل من زملائه في المنتخب الأرجنتيني، في مدينة بيريس المحاذية لمدينة روساريو.
ولم يُكشف عن سبب الوفاة، لكن وسائل إعلام محلية أفادت بأن خورخي ميسي كان يعاني من مرض السرطان.

Qatar U-18 team land in India for FIBA Asian Championship
Doha, Qatar: The Qatar U-18 National Basketball Team delegatio arrived in Ahmedabad, India yesterday to participate in the FIBA U-18 Asian Championship, hosted by India from August 13 to 23, with the participation of elite youth teams from across the continent.
The delegation is headed by Qatar Basketball Federation Secretary General and Director of National Teams Saadoun Sabah Al-Kuwari.
Qatar earned their place in the continental competition after finishing second in the Gulf U-18 qualifiers held in Doha, securing a direct berth to the Asian finals.
Qatar have been drawn into Group C alongside China, Iran, and Sri Lanka. The team will open their campaign against Iran on August 14, face China in the second round on August 16, and conclude the group stage against Sri Lanka on August 18.
The team is led by Algerian head coach Mounir Ben Ghalla, assisted by Hashim Zaidan, with Kenan overseeing physical conditioning and Saif Al-Hamandi supervising medical and rehabilitation duties.
The Qatar squad includes 12 players: Abdullah Yassin, Tamim Ashraf Abu Issa, Ziad Al-Bitar, Muath Omar Mousa, Azzam Mohammed Yaken, Ziad Tamer Al-Johari, Mohammed Saeed Badri, Mahmoud Tamer Ibrahim, Amer Ibrahim Mousa, Owen Ikina, Youssef Waleed Abdelqader, and Shahi Mohammed.
This participation carries significant importance for Qatar, as the team aims to achieve positive results in the continental championship, which also serves as a qualifying pathway to the FIBA U-19 Basketball World Cup 2027 in the Czech Republic.
The top four teams from the Asian Championship will secure qualification spots.
Man City sign Argentina goalkeeper Rulli from Marseille
Marseille, France: Manchester City have signed Argentina international goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from Marseille on a two-year deal, both clubs announced on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old will serve as City's number-two goalkeeper behind Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma.
"This is an amazing opportunity for me and one I had to grasp," said Rulli, who returns for a second spell at City having spent the 2016/17 season at the Etihad without making a first team appearance.
"When the chance to join Manchester City comes along you have to go for it.
"Everyone knows what an impressive club this is.
"City's success over a long time has been impressive. Everyone I have spoken to about City said I had to join them because they are a club with incredibly high standards.
"My job now is to train hard, get to know the players and staff and do everything I can to reach my best level."
Rulli has won eight caps for Argentina and was in the squad that won the 2022 World Cup and 2024 Copa America and reached last month's World Cup final in which they lost to Spain.
He previously played for European clubs including Real Sociedad, Villarreal, Montpellier and Ajax.
He famously scored a penalty in Villarreal's 2021 Europa League final victory over Manchester United, before denying opposite number David de Gea to claim the trophy 11-10 in the shootout.
Having been fined 10 million euros for failing to meet UEFA break-even targets, Marseille have to sell players this summer to balance its books.
Marseille's fifth-place finish in Ligue 1 during the 2025-2026 season also means the club will not participate in the lucrative Champions League.
On Tuesday, Marseille announced the departure of another Argentine player, defender Facundo Medina, to Bayer Leverkusen after just one season with the club.
Marseille had previously parted ways with some of its highest earners, such as English forward Mason Greenwood, who left for Fenerbahce, and Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who headed to Spanish side Deportivo La Coruña.
