الشيخ جاسم بن حمد بن ناصر: قائد استثنائي كرّس حياته لخدمة شعبه ووطنه

أكد سعادة الشيخ جاسم بن حمد بن ناصر آل ثاني، رئيس نادي قطر الأسبق، أن رحيل صاحب السمو الأمير الوالد الشيخ حمد بن خليفة آل ثاني شكّل فاجعةً وطنيةً كبيرة، وأصاب أبناء قطر والمقيمين على أرضها، بل وكل من عرف مواقفه وإنجازاته، بحزنٍ بالغ وأسى عميق، مشيراً إلى أن الوطن فقد قائداً استثنائياً كرّس حياته لخدمة شعبه ووطنه، وترك إرثاً سيظل خالداً في ذاكرة الأجيال.
وقال إن الأمير الوالد لم يكن مجرد قائد يتولى مسؤولية الحكم، بل كان أباً قريباً من أبناء شعبه، يحمل همومهم، ويحرص على رفعتهم وكرامتهم، ولذلك كانت العلاقة بينه وبين الشعب علاقة محبة صادقة بنيت على الثقة والإخلاص والوفاء، فأحبه الجميع لأنه أحب وطنه وأخلص لشعبه.
وأضاف الشيخ جاسم أن الأمير الوالد امتلك رؤية استثنائية وبصيرة نافذة سبقت عصرها، واستطاع من خلالها أن ينقل دولة قطر إلى مرحلة جديدة من النهضة والتنمية الشاملة، لتصبح نموذجاً يحتذى به في مختلف المجالات، مؤكداً أن ما تنعم به الدولة اليوم من تقدم وازدهار هو ثمرة تلك الرؤية الحكيمة والتخطيط البعيد المدى.
وأشار إلى أن الأمير الوالد آمن بأن الاستثمار الحقيقي يبدأ بالإنسان، فعمل على تطوير التعليم والرعاية الصحية والبنية التحتية والاقتصاد، ورسخ مكانة قطر على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي، حتى أصبحت دولة مؤثرة وصاحبة حضور عالمي في السياسة والاقتصاد والرياضة والإعلام والعمل الإنساني.
وأوضح أن الفقيد الكبير لم يقتصر عطاؤه على حدود وطنه، بل امتدت مواقفه إلى مختلف القضايا العربية والإسلامية، فكان نصيراً للمظلومين، وداعماً للاستقرار والسلام، وحريصاً على تعزيز الحوار والتعاون بين الشعوب، الأمر الذي أكسبه احتراماً واسعاً ومحبة كبيرة في مختلف أنحاء العالم.
وستظل مواقف الأمير الوالد الإنسانية والخيرية شاهدة على شخصيته النبيلة، حيث اقترنت مسيرته بالعطاء والعمل الصادق، وترك بصمات واضحة في العديد من المبادرات التنموية والإنسانية التي خدمت الإنسان أينما كان.
واختتم الشيخ جاسم تصريحه بالتأكيد على أن الأمير الوالد سيبقى حاضراً في وجدان أبناء قطر بما تركه من إنجازات عظيمة ومؤسسات راسخة ونهضة شاملة، مبيناً أن أفضل وفاء لذكراه يتمثل في مواصلة مسيرة البناء والتنمية التي أسسها، والحفاظ على المكتسبات الوطنية التي تحققت في عهده، سائلاً الله عز وجل أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته، وأن يسكنه فسيح جناته، وأن يجزيه عن قطر وشعبها خير الجزاء، وأن يديم على الوطن نعمة الأمن والاستقرار والازدهار.

Al Ahly have reportedly reached an agreement with Dinamo Zagreb to sign Algerian forward Monsef Bakrar in a deal worth €3 million.

The Croatian champions will receive a fixed €3 million fee, while performance-related bonuses could increase the total value of the transfer to €4 million.

Dinamo have also secured a 10% sell-on clause, which would entitle them to a share of any future transfer fee received by Al Ahly.

However, Bakrar is not expected to leave Zagreb immediately. Dinamo negotiated for the 25-year-old to remain available for both legs of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying-round tie against Swiss champions Thun.

The first leg will take place in Switzerland on July 21, before Dinamo host the return fixture on July 28.

Dinamo had previously rejected two Al Ahly offers before negotiations entered their final stages. But the clubs seem to have reached an agreement, although neither club has issued an official statement.

Bakrar joined Dinamo from New York City FC in August 2025 and signed a multi-year contract with the Croatian club. He scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 29 Croatian league appearances during the 2025/26 season.

The Algeria international previously represented ES Setif and Istra 1961 before moving to Major League Soccer in 2023.

He made 70 appearances across all competitions for New York City, scoring 10 goals.

Miami: France and England will bid a gloomy farewell to the World Cup tomorrow when they face each other in the dreaded third-place play-off in Miami.

Both teams head to Florida still raw from semi-final defeats that have left both footballing nations licking wounds, which, in the eyes of many, were largely self-inflicted.

France, the tournament’s outstanding team en route to the last four, were anonymous in the face of a tactical masterclass by Spain on Tuesday and slumped to a 2-0 defeat.

England added another chapter to their long history of World Cup heartache on Wednesday when they surrendered the initiative and a lead to lose 2-1 to Argentina in Atlanta.

France and England must now attempt to summon the remnants of their competitive will and physical reserves for a game that is widely disliked throughout football.

“None of our players and none of the French players want to play this match,” England manager Thomas Tuchel said after his team’s agonising semi-final defeat.

“They want to play the final. We gave everything to achieve that. Everyone plays to win the World Cup, but that’s how it is.

“We have one less day of recovery than France, but we will do it with professionalism.”

The match will mark a sad footnote to Didier Deschamps’ long reign as France coach.

Deschamps, who, like Tuchel, has faced stinging criticism for the tactical decisions that marked his team’s semi-final defeat, is stepping down as manager after the tournament.

The 57-year-old’s departure ends a successful 14-year spell in charge that included a World Cup triumph in 2018, defeat in the final in Qatar in 2022 and a run to the last four in the current tournament.

“There’s a third-place finish to play for, so we’ll do everything we can to get it,” Deschamps said after France’s semi-final loss.

“We’re not where we wanted or expected to be. The disappointment matches our ambitions, but we have to accept it. We have no other choice.” Yet while it will be scant consolation, the game might well prove pivotal for the World Cup’s Golden Boot race.

France captain Kylian Mbappe is joint top scorer for the tournament alongside Argentina skipper Lionel Messi on eight goals, and will be looking to add to his tally against an unsettled English defence.

England’s Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham -- who are on six goals apiece -- could also enter the running with a big performance at the Hard Rock Stadium.

For England’s all-time record goalscorer Kane, the game may also mark the final World Cup appearance of his career.

The Bayern Munich forward turns 33 this month and it is questionable whether he will be around for the 2030 finals.

Kane declined to speculate on his international future following Wednesday’s defeat.

“It’s too early to talk about that,” Kane told reporters.

“I’m taking it year by year and the national team is my pride and joy. It’s what I love to do more than anything.... I never want to put a limit on these things.”

The match is also an opportunity for Mbappe to move into top spot in the all-time World Cup scoring charts. The Real Madrid striker is currently on 20 goals, one behind Messi on 21.

Much may depend on the strength of the lineups fielded by both teams.

Tuchel is expected to rotate his starting side heavily after what has been a gruelling campaign.

An energy-sapping last-16 trip to the thin air of Mexico City and the Estadio Azteca was followed by a brutally hot quarter-final win over Norway in Miami before the shattering defeat to Argentina.

London: Thomas Tuchel may have criticised his England stars for being too "passive" in their World Cup semi-final defeat against Argentina, but it is the beleaguered German who has come under fire from the British media for his defensive tactics.

Hampered by Tuchel's cautious substitutions, England squandered a golden opportunity to reach their first World Cup final since 1966, blowing the lead as Argentina scored twice in the closing minutes to snatch a 2-1 win on Wednesday.

British tabloid The Sun encapsulated the mood of recrimination among frustrated England fans as their headlines blared: 'Lost his Tuch?' and 'Thomas tanked it'.

Tuchel was lambasted for sending on Dan Burn and Ezri Konsa to make a five-man defence, in a failed bid to hold on after England went 1-0 up through Anthony Gordon's goal early in the second half in Atlanta.

There was a feeling of deja vu for England supporters, who had watched their team let one-goal leads slip away against Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semi-final and Italy in the Covid-delayed Euro 2020 final.

The Daily Mail slammed Tuchel, saying despite being brought in to solve the tactical issues caused by predecessor Gareth Southgate, the German had also been too negative when the stakes were highest.

"Thomas Tuchel's changes cost England against Argentina -- they were out of ideas and doomed to lose from that moment. It was a return to the bad habits Gareth Southgate was criticised for", said the Mail.

The Times's columnist Martin Samuel said Tuchel had been just as conservative as many other failed former England managers.

"The England head coach was supposed to cure the team's fear but managers are pragmatists," he wrote.

"Anyone who doesn't jump is an Englishman, the Argentinians sing. And anyone who knows how to hold a lead in a World Cup semi-final is definitely not.

"The disease remains and is as contagious as ever. Different group, fancy new boss, same dispiriting outcome."

Tuchel's own words were turned against him, after he claimed that England had been scared to express themselves during the Euro 2024 final defeat against Spain in Southgate's last match in charge.

"They were afraid to drop out of the tournament, in my observation, than having the excitement and hunger to win it," he (Tuchel) said (in March) -- Not as easy as it looks, this international management lark," Samuel wrote.

However, with the 52-year-old former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain coach under contract until Euro 2028, the British media said Tuchel is likely to avoid the sack.
